The Mountain of the Lord

2 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

²^(A)It shall come to pass in the latter days
    that ^(B)the mountain of the house of the Lord
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
    and shall be lifted up above the hills;
and ^(C)all the nations shall flow to it,
³    and ^(D)many peoples shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
    and that we may walk in his paths.”
For ^(E)out of Zion shall go forth the law,^[a]
    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
⁴He shall judge between the nations,
    and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
^(F)and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
    and their spears into pruning hooks;
^(G)nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
    neither shall they learn war anymore.

⁵O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in ^(H)the light of the Lord.

Let Us Go to the House of the Lord

122 I was glad when they said to me,
^(B)“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
²Our feet have been standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem!

³Jerusalem—^(C)built as a city
    that is ^(D)bound firmly together,
⁴to which the tribes ^(E)go up,
    the tribes of the Lord,
as was ^(F)decreed for^[a] Israel,
    to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
⁵There ^(G)thrones for judgment were set,
    the thrones of the house of David.

⁶^(H)Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
    “May they be secure who love you!
⁷Peace be within your ^(I)walls
    and security within your ^(J)towers!”
⁸For my brothers and companions' sake
    I will say, ^(K)“Peace be within you!”
⁹For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
    I will ^(L)seek your good.

Fulfilling the Law Through Love

⁸^(A)Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for ^(B)the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. ⁹For the commandments, ^(C)“You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: ^(D)“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ¹⁰Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore ^(E)love is the fulfilling of the law.

¹¹Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you ^(F)to wake from sleep. ^(G)For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. ¹²^(H)The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us ^(I)cast off ^(J)the works of darkness and ^(K)put on the armor of light. ¹³^(L)Let us walk properly as in the daytime, ^(M)not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, ^(N)not in quarreling and jealousy. ¹⁴But ^(O)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, ^(P)to gratify its desires.

²⁹“Immediately after ^(A)the tribulation of those days ^(B)the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and ^(C)the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. ³⁰Then ^(D)will appear in heaven ^(E)the sign of the Son of Man, and then ^(F)all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and ^(G)they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven ^(H)with power and great glory. ³¹And ^(I)he will send out his angels with a loud ^(J)trumpet call, and they will ^(K)gather ^(L)his elect from ^(M)the four winds, ^(N)from one end of heaven to the other.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

³²“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. ³³So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, ^(O)at the very gates. ³⁴^(P)Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. ³⁵^(Q)Heaven and earth will pass away, but ^(R)my words will not pass away.

No One Knows That Day and Hour

³⁶“But concerning that day and hour ^(S)no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, ^(T)nor the Son,^[a] ^(U)but the Father only. ³⁷^(V)For as were the days of Noah, ^(W)so will be the coming of the Son of Man. ³⁸^(X)For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, ^(Y)marrying and giving in marriage, until ^(Z)the day when Noah entered the ark, ³⁹and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, ^(AA)so will be the coming of the Son of Man. ⁴⁰Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. ⁴¹^(AB)Two women will be grinding ^(AC)at the mill; one will be taken and one left. ⁴²Therefore, ^(AD)stay awake, for you do not know on what day ^(AE)your Lord is coming. ⁴³^(AF)But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night ^(AG)the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. ⁴⁴Therefore you also must be ^(AH)ready, for ^(AI)the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
